A Message From Stephen Savage,
IIFC Director, 2010
Hello and welcome to the official Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema web site. It is my privilage to be named director of the coming festival, and I and all those involved in working to make this festival a success are happy to be on board for what promises to be a great
experience for all the filmmakers who come to Idyllwild in 2010.
This is a “Film Festival for Filmmakers.” It is my goal to insure that that statement is more than just a slogan. It will be the motto for this and every subsequent year at Idyllwild.
We hope to build an environment celebrating the spirit of independent filmmaking, and to build a bridge between independent filmmakers and distribution companies worldwide that is accessible to the healthy budgeted Indies and smaller budget films alike.
Throughout the five days of Idyllwild, audiences will have a chance to experience a wide array of styles and cultures in film, as well as get a look into the world of professional independent film through screenings and seminars, Q&A, and one-on-one, with professional filmmakers from around the globe.
We aim to create an atmosphere of entertainment and learning that will set our festival apart from the huge film markets that currently tout them selves as “Independent.” Idyllwild is destined to become THE festival to be at in California, and 2010 will set the bar for other festivals to copy.
But we will never lose sight of our original goal, to celebrate the Independent Filmmaker and the true maverick nature of indie film.
